Down time is so important for kids. Between school and extra curricular activities, being a kid can be a full time job sometimes. That’s why it’s critical for kids to take a break from all that hard-core thinking and just be kids for awhile. In my daughter’s case, down time has been filled with Yo-Kai Watch the past couple of weeks.
Down Time and Yo-Kai Watch – Take a Break with the Supernatural
Yo-Kai Watch is a game that has gone through the stratosphere in Japan. I mean, it’s so ultra popular, it seems like every kid has the game. It’s not hard to see why. The art style is classic kid-friendly anime and yet adults can appreciate it, as well. The story of the Yo-Kai Watch is a bit like Pokemon, insofar as players will be collecting cute creatures. The difference is that the creatures are supernatural. Not scary supernatural. Think adorable kittens with smoke tails and ghosts that look a little bit like floating soft-serve.
The premise is simple. Yo-Kai (spirits) are everywhere. They range from friendly to good-naturedly mischievous and more. The player has to find and befriend these Yo-Kai and form them into a fighting team to battle other Yo-Kai. it’s a ton of fun, and my daughter has had her face buried in her 3DS ever since we got it.
My daughter has totally flipped for this game. Like I said, it’s Pokemon-esque, and since she’s been a big fan of that series for a while now, I knew she’d love it. She’s absolutely in love with this game. The cute factor is in full effect for this game, and my daughter has been routinely bringing over her 3DS to show me her newest Yo-Kai team member. I have to say, they’re pretty cool looking. So far, my daughter has amassed quite a team, and she’s always eager to collect more.

Yo-Kai Watch – Have a Little Down Time with Some Otherworldly Buds
My daughter is loving Yo-Kai Watch. When down time rolls around, she’s all about collecting new spirits and training them up. I even enjoy it when she comes to me excitedly and shows me her latest addition. The artwork is perfect for kids this age, and the game play mechanics are easy to pick up and yet have a good amount of depth to them.
If you’re looking for an addition to your child’s 2DS or 3DS game library for their down time fun, I encourage you to check out Yo-Kai Watch. If my daughter is any indication, your kids are going to love it. Yo-Kai Watch is only available on the Nintendo 2DS or 3DS, and according to my daughter, it’s the most fun you can have on the 2DS or 3DS.
