I have never been much of an accessories guy. I don’t do necklaces or rings (except my wedding band) and I have never, ever been a fan of watches. When I was a teenager my Papa, that’s granddad for those who don’t speak southern, bought me a beautiful gold watch. Believe me, I was thankful and cherished that watch, but I hated wearing it. It weighed about fifty pounds, it was clunky and if the light hit it just right… the reflection might scorch your retinas!
I never got comfortable wearing watches.
Recently, I’ve had a change of heart. I received a Jord Watch and I really love it! Jord watches are totally different from any watch I’ve ever seen. Jord is Swedish for earth, soil, land and it totally describes the philosophy, design and craftmanship of this company. Did I also mention, they’re made of wood! Wooden Watches
- Jord was derived from a desire for a timepiece that modeled our modern lifestyle. Sustainable, efficient, simple, and influenced by experiential living. Jord owners don’t just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go. They believe their watches tell more than time.
- Their style is guided by a deep appreciation for natural elements and modern design. Wood is not just a component of their watches, it is the main feature. The intricacy and multiplicity of the woods they utilize in their designs insure that each watch is as distinctive as the owner.
- Jord is a collective of artists, designers, and seasoned watchsmiths. Every watch series is planned with the expectation of delivering visible craftsmanship and unyielding utility. They choose their materials and movements with forethought. Consideration of best use and added benefit are central to their decision making process. Their methods ensure that their watches are not just worn, they’re used.
All of their watches are gorgeous, but I went with the Delmar White. The first thing I noticed when I put it on, was that it was so light, I hardly knew it was on my wrist. It has an original and clean design that is SO different from any watch I’ve ever tried on. The first place I wore it was the grocery store. I wanted to see if it could handle everyday life without being cumbersome or making me feel like I had to be gentle with it. After a few minutes, I didn’t even realize it was there and I even got a compliment on it from the checkout girl and bag boy. They both noticed it was made of wood and were very interested where they could find one. It’s a conversation starter for sure!
I Love My Jord So Much, I Took It To Jamaica!
I’ve got a busy summer ahead of me and I cant wait! There will be some business and some fun, but no matter what I’m doing, I know my Jord Watch will be going with me. Remember… A Jord isn’t just worn, it’s used!
What Jord Do You Want To Wear?
