Let The Good Times Roll… My family and I were so excited when we got invited to a special behind-the-scenes look at Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Orlando. We got an up close look at  the amazing floats, sampled some great food, rode an incredible ride (Despicable Me… Ridiculously good!!!) and got to see Gavin DeGraw perform live. It was a truly festive visit!
I really got excited when I saw the food we were going to sample. Adouille sausage, gumbo, beignets, and jambalaya. The jambalaya was as good as I’ve had in New Orleans. Make sure you try it when you visit “The French Quarter Courtyard”.
Something else we really enjoyed were the floats and the parade. Universal Studios actually contracts the same float designers, Kern Studios, that create and build all the floats for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. They’re so detailed and creative.
We got to catch a lot of beads, just like Mardi Gras in NOLA!!!
We ended the night off with a concert from singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw. He played all of his hits and then he did something really cool. He sat down at his piano and did a Billy Joel medley, just him. It was the highlight of the show. It was great to see a big star in a more intimate setting, really ended the night on a high note… Yep, that was a BAD joke.
Universal Studios Mardi Gras Grand Celebration is on select nights Feb.8 – June 7.
Check it out. It’s a great way for you and your family to experience Mardi Gras without having to go all the way to New Orleans.
