My daughter is getting ready to turn twelve-years-old and she is in a weird phase. Her viewing tastes have changed completely! I can’t keep track of what is “cool” in her book and what is not. I asked her to sit down and show me some what she is watching right now. (Psst… I already know. A responsible parent is always keeping track) So, I’m calling these, Shows on Netflix for Daughters That Rock!
Glitter Force
She’s all about this show! It’s got action, magic and lots of girl power. The magical kingdom of Jubiland is invaded by an evil emperor and his fairy tale villains. A tiny pixie named Candy recruits five preteen girls to form the powerful team of the Glitter Force to help defend Earth from becoming the next target. These fabulous friends transform from ordinary school girls into super powered cool girls. Defending the Earth from fairy tale villains isn’t an easy job, but the Glitter Force proves that nothing is more powerful than friendship.
Jem and The Holograms
Forget the horrible movie that came out last year. The original cartoon series has found a new audience of girls who love the music, fashion and stories that revolve around being good friends. It’s held up surprisingly well over the last 30 years. Yeah… That statement didn’t make me feel old.
Project Mc²
My daughter is crazy for this show! She’s into science, technology, engineering, art and math (Also known as S.T.E.A.M.). All the things the girls of Project Mc² also like. She applied and was chosen to be in the S.T.E.A.M. program at her school and she’s very proud of that accomplishment. The girls are also fashionable and take pride in being smart young women. She feels like this is the first show that represents who she is and what she likes. Season 2 will premier August 12, 2016.
As we get older, our tastes are going to change. It’s just hard watching your little girl turn into a young woman. I hope we will always be able to find something to watch together and enjoy. I think if we have Netflix, there won’t be a problem.
