Growing up, I used to love to spend time with my grandfather. My “Papa†was a very rugged outdoorsy type of man. My family were city dwellers and we didn’t do a lot of roughing it. He explained to me that part of the fun was catching your own dinner and cooking it over the open fire. Then I realized what he was really saying… If you don’t catch your dinner, you won’t be eating dinner. It was a life lesson on self reliance that I have taken with me into adulthood.
It was always an adventure and as I’ve gotten older I have tried to keep up the tradition that I shared with my Papa.
