I knew it was eventually going to happen. Someday, my little girl was going to become a tween! It’s a tough age. She’s too old for some things and too young for others. It’s been incredibly hard for her to find new shows that hold her interest. There aren’t a lot of options out there. She’s been wanting to see a program that features characters in her age group that isn’t… In her words, “Stupid and babyish.”
Project Mc²Â
My daughter is crazy for this show! She’s into science, technology, engineering, art and math (Also known as S.T.E.A.M.). All the things the girls of Project Mc² also like. She applied and was chosen to be in the S.T.E.A.M. program at her school and she’s very proud of that accomplishment. The girls are also fashionable and take pride in being smart young women. It also makes some positive statements about friendship and as a parent, I appreciate that. She feels like this is the first show that represents who she is and what she likes.
Here’s a brief description:
Project Mc² follows four super smart and science-skilled girls as they are recruited to join the spy organization, NOV8 (“Innovate”), and work together to save the day. Premiering worldwide exclusively on Netflix on August 7, Project Mc² shows that Smart is the New Coolâ„¢ incorporating S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) in a fun way and depicting smart girls, that viewers can relate to, throughout the series.
My daughter is a smart girl and watching a show where using your brain is cool, it makes her feel good about herself. She’s starting to understand there are other girls like her. Being a tween is a hard stage in life. I think Netflix is setting a great example by producing a show that has positive, smart and well rounded tweens. Project Mc² is funny, exciting and my daughter and I have a blast watching it.
And since we were speaking of science, here is a easy and fun experiment my daughter and I like to do.
