I’m a big lover of nighttime. Not everyone is, but it really depends on where you are. There is a peacefulness that settles over me and I begin to get reflective. I wanted to enjoy the night at Joshua Tree National Park.
As the sun began to set on the first day, I had a feeling that I was in for something really special.
Cherish sunsets, wild creatures and wild places. Have a love affair with the wonder and beauty of the earth. Â -Stewart Udall
The trees, hills and colors make Joshua Tree National Park look like something out of a beautifully illustrated children’s book. It’s almost like a fantasy world that has come to life. As the sun went lower the colors became a little more vibrant.
I had parked the Mazda I was driving and we set up camp for the night. The sky was amazing, but once that sun starts to set, it’s time to get a campfire going.
We started making dinner and I began to feel that calm come over me. The darkness was oddly peaceful and comforting. It was like wrapping up in your favorite blanket. Everybody started to talk and just began enjoying the surroundings.
After a long day of driving and sightseeing, the night began to wind down. Everyone started making their way to their tents. Before I turned in I decided to take just a few minutes and enjoy the night sky. My gut feeling from earlier in the day was correct. My last image was just simply beautiful and at that moment I was glad to be sleeping under the stars at Joshua Tree National Forest.
You cannot look up at the night sky on the Planet Earth and not wonder what it’s like to be up there amongst the stars. And I always look up at the moon and see it as the single most romantic place within the cosmos. -Tom Hanks
