I remember casting my first line when I was about 6-years-old. My dad took me out Largemouth Bass fishing in North Florida. I loved it! We started to go more and more and I was 100% into it. On this trip… I had a great day fishing in Punta Gorda, Florida.
A Great Day Fishing In Punta Gorda, Florida
Now, one thing that I failed to mention was… I haven’t cast a rod in 20 years. My father introduced me to fishing, but my Papa (Maternal Grandfather) and I really connected through it. I would visit him in Alaska during my summer breaks and the first thing we did was hit the water. We would fish everyday for hours. When my Papa passed away, I stopped fishing.
The decision to pick up a rod again was because it really brought back some good memories. My buddy Sujeet, from Guys Gab, was with me and we met up with Captain Mike from Task Force Fishing Charter. After some some quick instructions, we got out on the water. It was a perfect day!
Captain Mike, who is AWESOME, threw on some 80’s rock to get our blood pumping and then started taking us around to some of his favorite spots. We didn’t catch anything for about 30 minutes, but it didn’t matter. The scenery was so nice, I just was totally laid back and in a great state of mind.
Sujeet started things off with a very nice Red fish. I think he said it was the first fish that he ever caught. We started pulling them up pretty quickly after that. Between the two of us we pulled 4 Snook and 4 Red fish. We were doing all catch and release on this trip. Captain Mike explained to us that the previous years “Red Tide” had really hurt the local fish population in a bad way.
We also got to see some pretty cool stuff that we weren’t expecting. Here is a pic of our buddy the blowfish.
After about 4 hours, it was time to call it a morning. I can’t thank Captain Mike enough for showing us such a great time. If you’re looking for a great trip for the family or a guys’ or girls’ trip, I recommend fishing in Punta Gorda, Florida!
Thanks to the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor and Convention Bureau for hosting me.
