Everyone, including myself, has been so focused on Marvel’s first release this summer (A little indie project called The Avengers: Age of Ultron). A lot of us keep forgetting about their other entry into the summer movie circus, Ant-Man.

Well it looks like Marvel wants everyone to mark the date on their calender, because the “first” full trailer is hard to forget. Focusing on the humor and AMAZING special effects (Check out the toy train sequence near the end of the trailer), Marvel is set to introduce a lesser known character to the masses. Something they did last summer with what was arguably the best comic to film adaptation yet, Guardians Of The Galaxy.

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” Hits Theaters Everywhere On July 17, 2015.

Inspired by the upcoming Disney movie “Tomorrowland,” The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Citizenship, and XPRIZE announce a nationwide challenge for young innovators.

Beginning April 22, 2015, Disney’s Create Tomorrowland – XPRIZE Challenge invites kids to imagine themselves in the future and report back to the present through video, imagery or stories about one new and amazing invention or innovation they encounter, how it works, and the impact it has on the future.

 In June, six winners will have a once–in-a-lifetime mentorship experience with a leader in their area of interest. In addition, each winner will receive a $3,000 check, a 3D Printer from 3D Systems, and registration for FIRST® LEGO® League for the competition season 2015-2016 in the U.S.

 “Tomorrowland has always been a place of possibility in our parks and for the creative team behind our new film,” said Sean Bailey, President, Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production. “The future will be steered by the imaginations of our young people, and Disney is thrilled to work with XPRIZE to encourage and inspire the next generation of thinkers and dreamers to build the future they imagine is possible. We are excited to launch the Create Tomorrowland XPRIZE Challenge, which gives young people a platform to voice and depict their creative, bold and imaginative problem-solving inventions of the future,” said Trish Halamandaris, Senior Vice President Marketing & Communications at XPRIZE. “At XPRIZE we believe that solutions to the problems facing humanity can come from anyone, anywhere and one of these young innovators just might come up with an idea that can truly turn Tomorrowland into reality.”

Participants will compete in two divisions: Junior Division (8-12 years old), and Senior Division (13–17 years old). All entrants must have prior consent from their parent or legal guardian in order to participate in the challenge. “Best New Comedy of 2015!” – TV Guide

I’m still mourning the loss of one of my favorite TV series of all time, 30 Rock. Quirky, irreverent, and hands down one of the funniest and most well written shows of the last twenty years. I also loved how it was shot in New York. The city was as much of a cast member as Alec Baldwin or star/creator Tina Fey. Thankfully, Fey has created a new show for Netflix that will help me get over my 30 Rock shock.

I got the chance to see the first six episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt before it started streaming on Netfilx and I was blown away. It is the funniest show I have seen this year… period. Here is a brief description that really won’t do the show justice.

From “30 Rock” executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock comes this hilarious comedy series starring Ellie Kemper (“The Office,” “Bridesmaids”) as a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and starts life over as a nanny for a socialite (Jane Krakowski from “30 Rock”) in New York City. Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers and a couple of past-due library books, she takes on a world she didn’t think even existed anymore.

Yep, you read that right, A DOOMSDAY CULT!!! Some of the flashback scenes in the bunker show the audience (All of the bunker scenes are fall out of your chair hilarious) our Kimmy is resilient and wants to break out and be her own person. Ellie Kemper is perfect as the always upbeat Kimmy Schmidt who refuses to give up and be overwhelmed by her new surroundings. There’s also 30 Rock alums Jane Krakowski and Tituss Burgess filling out the very talented cast. Also keep an eye out for guest appearances by Tina Fey, Jon Hamm and Dean Winters.

 

Recently, I’ve felt a little like Kimmy Schmidt. My daughter is getting older and has taken on quite a few after-school activities as of late. My wife has been traveling all over the world with our business and I’m starting to have a lot of free time on my hands. For quite a few years, I’ve prided myself on being a dad and husband. That’s who I was. I was totally cool with that, I LOVE being DAD. But I’m finding, Rick has been doing a few more things for himself lately. It was really weird at first, but I’m liking it.

Just catching up on movies, TV and music was a daunting task. I always considered myself cool and up to date on the hip side of life… 10 years of hardcore parenthood has laid that to waste. I feel like I’m getting a whole new education on what’s going on with the rest of the adult world.

I’ve already got a beard, so I’m good there. Converse are still cool, thank God. My musical knowledge is playing catch up. I know who Sam Smith is, but I don’t think that’s cool. He’s the equivalent of liking Barry Manilow in the 1970’s, he was only cool for about 20 seconds. I know I’m good in the TV department because everyone is going to be talking about a new show I’ve already seen.

I’m trying to be like Kimmy and not let this new world break me. I may never be cool again in my life, but at least I can be unbreakable!
