This football season has been one of the more exciting in recent memory. Like most dads, I love to sit down on Sunday and get lost in my games. It’s become a ritual and my daughter has even started to watch a game or two with me. We usually make ourselves some hot wings, a little dip and we’re good for a few hours.
With the “Big Game” coming up, we want to invite some people over and cook up some fresh wings. But honestly, I don’t want to sit in the kitchen all day long cooking wings. This weekend I decided to head over to my local Walmart to check out their deli and see what kind of wing selection they had. I made my way over to the deli near the front of the store and I have to say, I was pretty impressed.
They carry Tyson Wings and they looked quite tasty! My store had Boneless General Tso’s, Bone-in Hot Wings, Buffalo Boneless, Buffalo Bone-in, Traditional Fried Bone-in and the Pick 3 bucket. We decided to go with the Pick 3 bucket. It was a great value and we got to try a few different types of wings. My daughter went with the Traditional Bone-in, my wife chose the Buffalo Boneless and I got the Buffalo Bone-in Hot Wings. I actually asked the man behind the counter when they had been cooked and they had all come out about 15 minutes earlier. These are truly fresh wings!
Every good wing needs a good dip to compliment it. One of my family’s favorite dipping sauces is a Buffalo Buttermilk Ranch that I make.
Buffalo Buttermilk Ranch Recipe
- 1/2 – 3/4 cup well-shaken buttermilk
- 2-3 tablespoons sour cream
- 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons ranch flavored dip mix
- 2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce (or hot sauce of your choice)
Combine all ingredients into a mason jar and shake vigorously. I prefer this method over whisking, but it will give you a workout. Open, taste, season to taste with salt and black pepper. Seal, and shake again. Put in the fridge for an hour to chill. It’s that easy!!!
I like my dips a little thin so they don’t overpower the flavor of the wing. For a thicker consistency, just add more mayo and sour cream.
Watching the “Big Game” this year is going to be a blast. I’m not going to have to worry about cooking, I’ve got my friends bringing over some of their favorite sides and I know the fresh wings from Tyson and the Walmart deli are going to make me a #GameTimeHero!
